late in the afternoon the low sun shines from behind the clouds and creates
a landscape with very warm and moody colours.
Some of the pictures below have been shot during such a afternoon near the
‘molenviergang’ close to the village of Groot-Ammers. Here you will find
a typically Dutch landscape with four mills close in line on the shore
of the water called ‘Ammersche Boezem’.
Not as famous as the nearby mills from ‘Kinderdike’ but definetely worth
a visit!

it would also be worth to visit it during autumn. Autumn coloured trees like
larch and birch would certainly make some attractive pictures.
And so we did. From October 17 till 24 we stayed in the village Vulpera in the
Swiss region Unterengadin in the county Graubunden.
The early snowfall covered the mountains in white and after a few days a clear,
blue sky made it perfect circumstances.

mountain streams are one of my favorite subjects.
The use of long shutter speeds makes the water look very silky and adds a
bit of magic to a picture. I like this effect very much.
During our stay in Austria there were some very nice waterfalls in the direct
surroundings which gave me a good opportunity to test my Lee filter kit
which I recently bought.

friday 31 Juli finally was the day. As they predicted a lot of traffic on the
European roads we decided to leave on friday and spend the night in a hotel
somewhere along the road in Germany and travel further to our destination
Abtenau in Austria on saturday.
After a whole day drive we finally ended up in the Allgau region in the south
of Germany. A beautifull region so full of lovely villages and castles that it
made us wonder if it would not be better to stay here because driving further
to Austria could only end up in an anticlimax.
We did leave the next day heading for Austria but the Allgau will certainly be
a place where we will spend one of our next holidays.

The great thing about it is that even
in your own garden you can find plenty of subjects so you don’t need to travel at all.
Using the Tamron lens for quite some time now I found that shooting really sharp pictures
takes a lot of experience and can’t be done without tripod and manual focussing.

Last year I bought the Tamron SP 90/2.8 macro which is a highly recommended lens.
Unfortunately I didn’t have a lot of time to experience with it.
This year I decided to give some extra attention to macro photography.

But in other seasons when the elements play freely and clouds, sea and beach cooperate
in showing dynamic images, visiting a beach can be a very much enjoyable experience.
However the circumstances on this sunday in March were quite calm the clouds above sea
are causing an enjoyable and colourful showpiece on the Burgh-Haamstede beach.
